not so happy halloween
generally i think of this as a fun time of year, clothing-wise.
halloween is that time to do what i wanted to do all the time as child - namely play dress up. my mother, being at the time a full-time sari wearer, didn’t really provide much fodder for dressing as a witch, movie star, or southern belle, so until the advent of the BWG, i’ve gotten it out of my system as an adult. and this continues into the winter holiday season - i mean, when else can i wear that insane ebay-purchased white satin hand-made schiaperelli coat-dress with the puffy sleeves?
but this year, it hasn’t been fun and i’m not in a dressing up mood. and this is why:
south carolina child killed while trick or treating.
and add this:
murder weapon IDd in killing of Jennifer Hudson’s 7 year old nephew and two other family members
and this accidental death of an 8 year old
but hey! at least no one got hurt at this happy event
The NRA says that guns don’t kill people; people kill people.
No, guns don’t kill generic “people” - guns kill children. I hope they’re proud of themselves.
It’s getting scary out there guys, and unlike Halloween, a simple change of clothes isn’t going to fix the problem.
