handful o blogs
the BWG has been an absolute menace: it’s like someone pushed the Red Button and turned my mellow-baby into and-you-thought-*mommy*-was-high-maintenance-precocious-terrible-two-ter. honestly, can’t blame him - he’s had a cold, he’s cutting four teeth and mommy won’t let him unroll all the toilet paper; of course he’s in a bad mood.
anyhow, that’s my excuse for several days of surfing the web, particularly the blog world - it’s one of the few things i can do while keeping an eye on the little guy. so i figured i’d pass on some of the results of my “labours” to glamatron readers:
Cuffington: she’s got hilariously good taste and is willing to have internal ethnical debates about things like that darned “i’m not a plastic” bag, an activity that i’ve spent an embarassing amount of time on. besides, it’s nice to see fashion blogging that’s based on the aesthetic of the northern rather than southern left coast of the u.s. (yes, folks, there is a difference)
Omiru I so much want to like this blog that i’m going to put the blog up. I mean, their message - fashion for everyone, regardless of income, size, or age - is so glamatron. the site is pretty and professional and the writing is charming…my two sole reservations are that 1) they seem to cater to trends (vs. style - have i written my fashionista rant yet?) a bit much, which feels “young” to me : my feeling is if it looks good or feels great, wear it and to hell with whether it’s in or out and 2) that occasionally they miss the boat on fashion advice e.g. they suggest that bubble silhouettes aren’t good with wide hips, thoughh depending on your overall body shape and what counts as a “bubble”, they may be one of the smartest things you can buy this season. also they give good petites advice but not much for tall girls.
Andrea Tung She doesn’t write often, but what she picks out is usually fab…a great place for days when you feel like knitting and want inspiration (it doesn’t have to be a baby blanket! hare’ rama!). her links to other knitters rock too, and she’s got some patterns, and in general, her “fable handknits” are pretty nice…
