online low down for updating your look
there are tons of things i do not like about https//:brittique.com (you’ll have to paste the link into your browser to get there - wordpress refuses to set this up as a link…don’t even ask). the site’s slow to load, even on an ultra-fast line, and most of the stuff (including the accessories!) is not sized for anyone larger than a u.s. size 10. add the fact that the prices are, well, pret-a-porter-hot-designer prices (don’t forget to translate from GBPs to USD when looking for the bottom line!) and don’t include the shipping overseas to the u.s. and you can see why i probably won’t be doing a lot of shopping with them.
if you can fit in a size 10 and can spend a few bucks, however, i could definitely see shopping there. and, as an online alternative to thumbing through lots of fashion mags to get a low down on the upcoming trends, the site couldn’t be better. they seem to have an unerring intuition on the shapes, colours and materials that are going to be news in the next season and unerringly capture hot, upandcoming, designers whose collections epitomize those trends. a quick browse through their site every few weeks or two months and you’ll be as on top of what the newest ramp looks are going to be, without being interrupted by a quick article on britney’s latest hair foibles or what the socialites of san francisco are up to this week…simply translate them to your real life (e.g. find a version of that exaggerated raincoat (check : https//:brittique.com/boutique/new/clothing/1/32/1419/) at say bloomingdales and recreate a stylish and unconventional look at a fraction of the cost and in a size that you might actually wear.
