I’ve been meaning to post for a while about the phenomenon of dressing one’s child like oneself, especially if the child is of another gender than oneself (note to self: tell the Kinks story someday. some other day). But in the meantime, I wanted to point readers to babble.com - an online parenting magazine brought to you by the people behind nerve.com. Irreverent, funny, and hip. In particular, I’m glad to know that I’m not the only mom who has suddenly been overwhelmed with the desire to buy cute but pricey clothes, particularly adorable shoes, for their BWG (how bad is it? my friends by kids shoes at Target. our kid doesn’t walk yet, and I just bought him two sets of Robeez and am contemplating a third). And he’s a BOY, fer cryin’ out loud…he’s never going to aspire to Imelda-dom.
Then again, as the babble.com divas point out, maybe I should take the opp while I can - before he is suddenly into wearing burlap bags and cigarette jeans because that’s what all the cool kids are wearing…
