online shopping report: hautelook.com

so, maggie hooked me up on hautelook.com and boy am i sorry…the economy is in the tank, so is my 401k (and let’s not talk about consulting jobs, which are the rest of my life…argh!), and yet, there are totally yummy things there going for relatively dirt cheap. i finally gave in to something i’ve been looking for for years (literally) - a black and grey striped cardigan. this model was made of thin cashmere (perfect for california) and made by b.chyll. it arrived a couple of days ago, no problems or delays, and is gorgeous and fits well.

They also regularly (at least over the past four weeks) carry labels that are fab for ethnic women - think Sweeties for example - as well as stuff that look better for the “lighter” set. Nice mix, and since there’s something new most days, you’ll probably run into something that will look great :)

my warnings: boys and pocketbook (isn’t that always the way?). maggie pointed me there because there are occasionally great clothes for boys on serious d/c. the problem is the OCCASSIONAL part. I’ve seen one set in several weeks that struck me as more interesting than what I can get from non-hot designers/boutiques. Girl’s clothes on the other hand - tons and tons of cute stuff, both on and off season. But if you’re trying to be economy-conscious, be careful about looking at stuff for yourself (or your partner, be they male or female) - there’s some bargains that can still put a dent in the pocket…
